INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY

We seek to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns by investing in the higher quality, liquid, non-distressed segments of the corporate credit market. In addition to synthesizing macroeconomic insights with bottom-up credit research, we believe our full integration of proprietary ESG factors further strengthens the credit selection process and risk‐adjusted returns while positively impacting sustainability.

TOP-DOWN/BOTTOM-UP ANALYSIS

The combination of top-down and bottom-up analysis can lead to the most comprehensive perspective on opportunities in the corporate credit market.

FULL ESG INTEGRATION

We believe the integration of our proprietary Environmental, Social and Governance analysis further strengthens our credit selection process and risk-adjusted returns while positively impacting sustainability.

FOCUS ON NON-DISTRESSED CREDIT

Investing in the liquid, non-distressed segments of the corporate credit market reduces the probability of default and can lead to a more advantageous risk/reward trade-off.

DISCIPLINED RISK MANAGEMENT

We believe selecting fundamentally strong credits is the most important aspect of managing risk. We supplement our credit research with proprietary quantitative tools to monitor portfolio metrics and remove bias from our investment process.

ESG

We believe bondholders can positively influence companies from an ESG standpoint. This process, incorporated across all our strategies, includes positive ESG integration, negative screening and proactive engagement with the management teams of companies to more accurately assess ESG metrics & qualitative considerations.

Positive Screens
Focus on companies that are industry leaders in ESG disclosure, possess higher ESG scores and show propensity to improve ESG profile

Negative Screens
Identify potential areas of risk: (1) select industries that are prohibited as they are deemed to cause harm to human life or the environment; (2) companies that perform negatively against international norms and standards
Industry Considerations
Certain industries require additional review given their market and ESG impact

Active Ownership
Engage directly with senior management teams of corporate bond issuers to understand the overall credit risk and the company’s unique ESG risks

COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY

At Aristotle, we are committed to active participation in our communities both locally and internationally. We partner with a number of outstanding organizations and nonprofits that advance health, education, the arts and human services not only to support their valuable missions but also to enrich our own lives through teamwork and continuous learning. From walking to support St. Jude to mentoring youth to volunteering in neighborhoods in great economic need, Aristotle strives to make a meaningful difference in our communities.

Each Holiday Season, Aristotle makes a monetary donation on behalf of our clients to a charity determined by our employees. In the past, our contributions have included Direct Relief, Disabled American Veterans, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and American Red Cross (Hurricane Harvey Relief).

In 2019, Aristotle contributed to Chrysalis on behalf of our clients. Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization which provides the resources and support needed for homeless and low-income individuals to find and retain employment. The funds will be distributed to help Chrysalis clients to reconnect to the workforce and get on a pathway to self-sufficiency.
