INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY

We believe a foundation of successful investing can be attained by identifying companies that are poised to benefit from secular themes, product cycles or industry trends. As a result, by identifying these factors early on through fundamental, bottom-up research of companies, products and economic cycles we believe consistent risk-adjusted returns can be achieved while mitigating risk over multi-year time horizons.

SECULAR THEMES

We seek to understand longer-term shifts in spending across various industries and geographies that may greatly impact a business

PRODUCT CYCLES

Sector-specific analysts use industry knowledge and market research to find business with superior products/brands, strong intellectual property or patents, and the ability to grow market share

CYCLICAL TRENDS

We aim to identify strong end markets and select companies with capable management teams that have the potential to take advantage of cyclical tailwinds to drive company and stock performance

INVESTMENT PROCESS

The investment process starts with idea generation, is followed by in-depth fundamental analysis and finally sector review and risk monitoring,
which is part of the continuous monitoring that occurs during portfolio construction.

IDEA GENERATION

IN-DEPTH FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH

SECTOR REVIEW/RISK MONITORING

In the idea generation phase, the firm looks for companies that they believe are primed to benefit from secular themes, product cycles and cyclical trends.
The investment team then conducts extensive fundamental research, using multiple sources of information, on these identified companies. Valuation is an important component of the research process. The analysts come up with a target price based on the company’s growth outlook and capital structure using appropriate valuation metrics relative to peers and the business cycle.
Lastly, the sector analyst and lead portfolio manager continuously monitor industry/sub-industry positioning and security selection. In this stage, portfolio construction is affected by increased or decreased conviction in the company, the risk level of the overall portfolio and valuation deviations.
